Air pruning is a process where roots that reach the walls of a breathable, fabric pot are naturally pruned when they come into contact with air. This contact causes the root tips to dry out and die off, stimulating the plant to produce more lateral roots. The result is a denser, healthier root system that can absorb more nutrients and oxygen, leading to stronger and more vigorous plant growth.

Cannabis ruderalis is a subspecies of cannabis known for its autoflowering trait, meaning it flowers based on age rather than light cycle changes.

6 CO2 + 6 H2O + light energy → C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6 O2

PPF stands for Photosynthetic photon flux and ppfd for the density. PPF with the unit µmol/s (micromole per second) describes the total amount of photons emitted by a light-source. PPFD measures the light intensity on a surface. PPFD is PPF divided by the Area. (PPF/A |  µmol/m²s)

Chlorophyll is the key pigment in photosynthesis that captures sunlight. It converts this light energy into chemical energy by exciting electrons, which are then transferred through a series of reactions. This process produces ATP and NADPH, essential for powering the Calvin cycle to convert carbon dioxide into glucose, vital for plant growth and energy.

Chlorophyll:

  • A pigment molecule found within chloroplasts
  • Gives plants their green color

SANlgiht GmbH is based in Austria, Vorarlberg. The SANlight LEDs are produced in Schruns (Montafonerstraße 14, 6780 Schruns, Austria).

K.J. McCree was a plant physiologist who demonstrated that the number of photons (light quanta) is a better measure of photosynthetic efficiency than energy.
