Use of grorox bloated tone in hydronic and aeroponic systems

• Grorox-bloated tone must be flushed thoroughly with water before the first use in order to remove any contaminants such as sand and dust or other residues.
• It is advisable to systematically check the pH of bloated tone substrates: Put a few clay birds in a glass of water with a pH of 6.0, stir well and measure. With a pH of 7.0 or more, you put the bloated tone into diluted phosphorus or nitric acid solution (or in liquid or powdery pH) and then rinse it well. If your Grorox substrate is pH-neutral, thorough washing and rinsing is sufficient as described above.
• after use: For recycling, the bloated tone is usually only washed to completely remove organic residues and rinsed well. In the case of insect or mold infestation, however, it may be necessary to insert the clay birds for disinfection in a strongly acidic solution (or liquid or powder-shaped pH, pH 4). Then rinse thoroughly to wash the acid completely.
